In his films, DIRK VAN DEN BERG narrates of the "adventure of the real" (Jean Rouch). He is a director, writer and producer with wide international experience. After graduating in Rome, Italy (with Andrea Camilleri) and many years working in fiction, Dirk shifted his focus to documentaries, specifically to stories from the Middle East, the Maghreb area and Africa.

With his own production company OUTREMER in 2017 he produced the investigative documentary THE SIEGE OF MECCA, which exposes the battle for Islam's holiest site thatled to the birth of religiously motivated terrorism. In 2019, with BIG BANG OF THE PRESENT, he revealed why the year 1979 became the beginning of our modern era. In 2023, DOOMSDAY CLOCK focused on the three greatest dangers to humanity according to the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, the network founded by Einstein and Oppenheimer.

And in 2025 his new film SILENT WAR / IM SCHATTEN DER BOMBE will debunk past and present narratives about the 80-year-long history of atomic bombs, nuclear deterrence and the Cold War.
